PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators in Pulaski County say a grandmother died on Wednesday night after her grandson accidentally shot her.
It happened as Eutta Phelps, 68 and two of her grandsons and a cousin of a grandson were in a car driving down South Highway 1003 in the Mount Victory area of Pulaski County. The Sheriff's Office says one of the grandsons, who is 18, was driving while the other two, ages 12 and 17, were in the backseat. According to a press release, the pair in the back seat found a gun and were playing with it when it went off. The driver pulled over and called 911. Phelps was rushed to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where she later died.
The Sheriff's Office says, at this point, their investigation indicates the shooting was accidental. The case remains under investigation.
