Radio host, Lexington native using wedding registry to help others

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Two Lexington natives are giving up the chance to receive wedding gifts for themselves to give gifts to others.

Originally from Lexington, Kristin Klingshirn, and her fiance Bart, who is also from Kentucky, are donating their entire gift registry to Bert's Big Adventure.

Bert's Big Adventure is an organization put on by Atlanta-based radio show, The Bert Show. Bert's Big Adventure provides an all-expenses-paid, five-day trip to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.

This cause hits close to home for Klingshirn, who is the Co-host & Entertainment News Director for The Bert Show.

Kristin and her fiance have been together for 10 years. They decided that their wedding gift registry would be put to better use by donating items that the children and their families may need for their trip. The registry includes everything from backpacks to iPods and toys.

As of Friday morning, 800 items had been purchased off the wedding registry!

If you'd like to contribute to Bert's Big Adventure, you can pick something from Kristin and Bart's registry.

Kristin and Bart are getting married in Lexington in April next year.
