TAYLOR COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The body of a teen has been found after a drowning at Green River Lake.

Kentucky Division of Fish & Wildlife have identified 18-year-old Tariq Armour of Cox Creek as the victim in Sunday evening's drowning.

Officers say that a large group of people tried swimming from one side of the lake to a cove on the opposite side around 5 p.m. Sunday evening. Officials say the cove is near a rock point off of a walking trail where people go to view the lake.

Armour and another male began struggling and screaming for help while swimming to the other side.

One male was rescued by members of the group but witnesses say Armour went under and did not come back up. Officers say that multiple people in the group began searching for him but did not find him.

Taylor County Search and Rescue was on the scene within minutes and began a recovery mission.

Crews found Tariq Armour's body on Monday around noon.
