RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Richmond Police have identified twin brothers as suspects in a weekend murder. Elton Bailey and Eltron Bailey, both 27, are wanted in connection with the shooting death of Jaicoatai Dean, 21. Police say they consider the pair armed and dangerous.
Richmond Police have named Elton Bailey (left) and Eltron Bailey (right) as suspects in the October 7, 2017 murder of Jaicoatai Dean.
"Obviously, anything involving a weapon, or a firearm, is a serious offense. Which, again, is why we want to tell the public, use caution if you see these individuals. Don't try to approach them, don't speak to them yourself and say, 'Hey, I saw you on TV'. You want to make sure you immediately call 9-1-1 and get police involved," said Sgt. Josh Hale with Richmond Police.
Eltron Bailey is wanted on murder, possession of a handgun by a felon and persistent felony offender charges. Elton Bailey is wanted on complicity to murder and persistent felony offender charges. The men are from Lexington.
Police say Dean was shot multiple times at a home on Foxhaven Drive around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 7. He died around 4:00 a.m. at a hospital.
A woman who lives on Foxhaven Drive says the neighborhood is usually quiet, but not on that Saturday morning.
"I heard three gunshots and that's when I called 9-1-1," she said. "It's really scary because families live here, kids live here, and for it to happen this close to home is just scary."
This isn't the pair's first experience with the criminal justice system. WKYT has learned they were indicted in a 2012 attempted murder case; Both pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of wanton endangerment. Elton was sentenced to 10 years behind bars and Eltron was sentenced to 11.
Richmond Police say they are working with surrounding agencies on the investigation.
