Drivers are gearing up and heading out of town for the holidays. This, in turn, has created heavier traffic than normal.

Officials have already responded to one crash on the inner loop of New Circle Road that caused delays and forced drivers onto already busy roads.

Some traveling out of town like driver Karen Bortner say they are excited about the holiday weekend but know delays can be expected.

“I have not hit the highway, I’ve just gone along Man o’ War, and there are a lot of people out so far. So I’m expecting more people on the road than normal.”

AAA says an estimated 97.4 million people are expected to travel on the roads this weekend.
