LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - State Police arrested a 17-year-old boy after a chase on Wednesday morning in Laurel County that left two police cruisers with damage.
The crime spree began on Wednesday when a man was letting his truck warm up in the driveway of his home in the Lily area. Someone jumped in the truck and drove off. The homeowner called the police.
Deputies spotted the stolen truck on U.S. 25 and started chasing it. During the chase, the driver in the truck rammed a Laurel County Sheriff's Office cruiser and a Kentucky State Police cruiser.
The suspect bailed from the vehicle and took off on foot. Police located him during a search and took a 17-year-old into custody.
Police think the juvenile could be connected to several other crimes as well. They say he was known to them and that they had been looking for him. The teen is from Elizabethtown and police think he has been stealing cars for a while. Police charged the teen with Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, DUI, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree and several other traffic charges. They say he could also face attempted murder charges because he rammed two police cruisers.
