LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department says Lexington has had two flu-related deaths in the city. Both people who died were older adults with preexisting conditions.
Fayette County has 13 confirmed cases of the flu. Health department officials are urging anyone who has not received a flu shot to get one before peak flu season hits.
"Flu season typically peaks in late January/early February, and it's not uncommon to see the flu circulating in central Kentucky in March," said Kevin Hall, LFCHD spokesman. "A flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and your entire family from the flu."
