The crash happened Tuesday night at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 26 and Kentucky Highway 6 in the Woodbine area south of Corbin.

The family has identified the teen as Tristan Lay.

Authorities say the teen was traveling north while a southbound traveling car attempted to turn before colliding with the bike. The driver told deputies she did not notice the bike.

“She claimed to have not seen it," says Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell, "It was not legally equipped with lights or anything to aid in the identification of the dirt bike.”

Harrell says the teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
