Boyle Co. defeats Corbin, 40-21 for 3A state title

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Title town lived up to its name Friday night at Kroger Field in Lexington as Boyle Co. claimed its 8th KHSAA state championship and sixth under Head coach Chuck Smith.

The Rebels defeated Corbin 40-21 behind five touchdown passes from quarterback Reed Lanter. Three of those touchdowns were to Reese Smith who finished with 120 yards receiving.

WKYT talked to fans from both teams who were confident their players would bring home the win.

"Believe it or not, the whole team is completely confident and calm," Toby Wine, the dad of a Corbin player, said. "And we're bringing home number six tonight."

"Through the wall, they have pushed through the wall to get here," Patricia Gervacio, mom to a Boyle County player, said. "They've got to go through the wall."
