RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - EKU's Elsa Moberly recently earned a sixth OVC golfer of the week honor after finishing third out of 83 players at the Colonel Invitational and leading her team to a third place finish with a 54-hole total of 223.
"It was really good," said Moberly. "I was really wanting everyone to play really well. It was a good week altogether."
The 2014 Kentucky Miss Golf out of Pulaski Co. has found happiness in her first season as a Colonel after transferring in from Mississippi State.
"I just didn't realize how happy I could be until this year, and it's been definitely the happiness from the girls and the coach and just the atmosphere," said Moberly.
EKU's head golf coach Mike Whiston has known of Elsa's talent for quite some time.
"Her dad and I, Erich were teammates at EKU long long time ago it seems," said Whston. "I recruited Elsa out of high school. She chose Mississippi St. Things didn't work out there for her and she transferred to us this year, and she's been wonderful."
Moberly ranks first in the OVC in ball stroke average and next week she will attempt to lead her team to a third-straight OVC title.
"We're a really close team," said Moberly. "So just really pumping each other up and knowing that each person supports each other has really helped. I think just continuing that will really help us go into OVC and hopefully win."
