Former Wildcat Cousins tears Achilles tendon, done for the year

NEW ORLEANS Pelicans All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins suffered a torn left Achilles tendon on Friday night and will miss the rest of the season. Cousins sustained the injury late in the 4th quarter of the Pels 115-113 win over the Rockets.

It was a non-contact injury as Cousins tried to rebound his own missed free throw.

"We're scared about it," Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said after the game. "I feel horrible for him.

Cousins, who is averaging 25.4 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, had to be helped off the court.

He had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in the win over the Rockets, recording his second triple-double in the last three games.
