Former Wildcat Reed sets Fresno home run record

FRESNO, Ca. Former UK baseball great A.J. Reed smashed his 34th home run of the season eclipsing Pedro Feliz's 33 in 2000, when the Fresno Grizzlies beat Salt Lake 9-7 in the season finale Monday.

The left-handed slugger from Terre Haute, Indiana drilled his 34th home run of the season to right field in the 5th inning off Salt Lake Bees' reliever Mike Morin.

Reed, who also led all of Minor League Baseball in homers (all leagues, all levels), smashed the 200th dinger of the season for Fresno, further extending a franchise record.

Reed finishes the 2017 campaign at Fresno with 34 homers and 104 RBI tying Matt Duffy for fifth-most in a Grizzlies single-season.
