Georgetown loses at the buzzer in NAIA National Championship

Kansas City, Ks. (WKYT) - Just when it appeared that Georgetown College had secured the NAIA National Title, Mid-America Christian's Malcom Mann sank a layup as time expired in overtime to give MACU the 100-99 victory.

Georgetown had a 50-39 lead at halftime and led for most of the second half. The Tigers were down two in the final seconds of overtime when Trent Gilbert hit a three-pointer with four seconds left to give Georgetown a 99-98 lead. On the ensuing possession, Mann dribbled the length of the floor and scored a contested layup as time expired.

Devonse Reed scored a team-high 25 points for MACU. Mann added 23 points including the game-winner.

Georgetown was led in scoring by Noah Cottrill's 32 points. Tony Kimbro scored 25 points and Deondre McWhorter added 21 points.

The loss marked the fourth NAIA runner-up finish for Georgetown in program history.
