LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Two more Kentucky baseball draftees have agreed to congrats. Chris Machamer and Andrew Miller, two of 13 Wildcats drafted, have signed with Boston and Miam, respectively.
Machamer, drafted in the 16th round, signed for $213,000, Jim Callis of major league baseball reported. Machamer started his summer by pitching two games in the Cape Cod League.
Machamer’s second season in Lexington saw him become Kentucky’s closer. He had 10 saves and a 2-1 record in 23 appearances, along with a team-best 3.06 ERA, for the 34-22 Wildcats.
In 35.1 innings this season, Machamer struck out 38 while walking just nine. He allowed 29 hits while opponents batted .216 against him.
Miller was a surprise draft pick, going in the 40th round after sitting out the 2018 season due to transfer rules and Tommy John surgery. Miller picks up a $150,000 signing bonus, per Callis.
