HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (WKYT) - A report says former Kentucky and Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino is recovering from emergency eye surgery.

Marty McGee with the Daily Racing Form reported Pitino "experienced temporary blindness" while attending horse races at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

Pitino later texted Tim Sullivan with the Courier-Journal in Louisville and told him he is recovering from surgery.

Pitino is actively involved in horse racing. McGee says he was at the park to watch horse Coach Rocks compete in her maiden race. He had to leave before the filly won.
