UK's Anyagaligbo will miss season with torn ACL

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK forward Ogechi Anyagaligbo will miss the basketball season after tearing her ACL in the Wildcats' exhibition game on Sunday.

Anyagaligbo sat out last year after transferring to UK from Stony Brook, where she was the America East Rookie of the Year.

UK coach Matthew Mitchell made the announcement on Thursday.

“So sad for her, because she’s worked so hard,” Mitchell said. “She’s had a great attitude so far. She’ll get the very best care.”

Mitchell said there was no timetable for surgery for the junior from Miami.

Guard Paige Paige Poffenberger is in UK’s concussion protocol and will miss the Wildcats’ game on Friday. Mitchell said the sophomore took an elbow to the head during a recent practice.
