When you look at the Kentucky high school basketball record books, former Phelps phenom Ervin Stepp is at or near the top of all the scoring marks. Stepp, who was Mr. Basketball in 1980, scored 3,228 points in his career, including a career average of 40.4, best all-time in Kentucky.
Stepp was recruited by some big name schools, but UK wasn’t one of them. Instead, Stepp signed with Eastern Kentucky in April of 1980.
He would later transfer to Alice Lloyd College.
