Video Vault - Lexington runner Nenow once an Olympic hopeful

Former UK distance runner Mark Nenow twice had his Olympic hopes dashed .

Nenow, once the American record-holder in the 10,000 meters, could only stand by as the U.S decided in 1980 to boycott the Olympics held by the Russians.

In 1984, Nenow was a favorite to make the American team, but finished fourth at the Olympic Trials in Indianapolis, failing to make the U.S. roster.

Nenow finished second at the World Cross Country Championships in 1981 and third in the 10,000 meters at the Pan American Games in 1983.
