West Jessamine takes girls state soccer title

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - West Jessamine repeated as the girls state soccer champions. The Colts defeated Notre Dame 1-0 on Saturday.

The game ended in regulation in a scoreless tie, but neither team could score in two overtimes. West Jessamine’s Edie Meyer scored in the shootout, giving the Colts the title.

West Jessamine keeper Anna Rexford recorded four saves.

The Colts won the 2016 state title, defeating Lexington Catholic 4-0.
