Ingredients

1 ½ cups shortening
½ cup butter
3 cups sugar
2 eggs
½ cup molasses
4 cups all purpose flour
4 tsp soda
2 tsp cinnamon
3 cups oatmeal
sugar for coating

Directions

Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and molasses. Mix together all dry ingredients and blend into the butter mixture. Roll in 1 inch balls and roll in sugar to coat. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 deg about 9 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool slightly on the pan before removing to a rack to cool completely.
