Turnip Green Soup Monday, March 7, 2011
Ingredients
12 to 16 oz cubed ham
1 TBSP vegetable oil
3 cups chicken broth
2 16 oz pkg frozen chopped turnip greens (or collards)
1 10 oz pkg frozen seasoning blend (or 1/2 of a 10 oz bag of chopped onion and of chopped green bell pepper)
1 TBSP sugar
1 tsp seasoned salt
2 TBSP cider vinegar
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions
Heat oil in a heavy Dutch oven, with a good lid, and sauté the ham cubes until they are lightly browned. Add broth and then remaining ingredients. Stir to mix and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and allow to cook covered about 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
