Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake/Pie Monday, March 28, 2011


A Martha White Recipe

1 Martha White Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake Mix
1/3 cup Crisco Butter Flavored shortening
1 21 oz can apple pie filling
1/3 cup sour cream
1 large egg
½ tsp vanilla
2 TBSP sliced almonds


Heat oven to 350 deg. Lightly coat a 9” springform pan with cooking oil spray. Reserve separately ¼ cup coffee cake mix and 2 tsp streusel. Beat remaining coffee cake mix and shortening with an electric mixer until lumps disappear and the mixture is granular. Press into bottom and ½ inch up the sides of the prepared pan. Spread apple pie filling evenly over bottom crust. Combine sour cream, egg, reserved ¼ cup coffee cake mix, the remaining streusel, and vanilla until blended. Pour over apples in the crust. Sprinkle on reserved streusel and almonds. Bake about 45 minutes or until center is set. Cool before serving.
