Whole Wheat Biscuits Thursday, April 21, 2011
Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 TBSP baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ cup cooking oil
¾ cup buttermilk or sour milk (or as needed)
Directions
Mix all dry ingredients completely. Add cooking oil and most of the milk. Stir together. The dough should be soft but stiff enough to hold its shape. Add the rest of the milk to reach this stage. Dust a clean surface lightly with flour and knead the dough lightly for two or three turns. Pat out to about ¼ inch thickness and cut into biscuits of the size you like. Rework remainder of dough and pat out and cut until all dough is used. Bake at 450 deg about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot. Or cold.
