Green Beans with a Spicy Sauce Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Ingredients

1 12 oz pkg refrigerated fresh green beans (in the produce dept)
1 small onion, diced
½ tsp garlic, minced
1 TBSP olive oil
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 TBSP sugar
salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
1 TBSP red wine vinegar

Directions

Cook green beans in boiling water about 5 minutes (or more if you want them softer). Drain and set aside. Saute onion in hot oil in a large skillet about 5 minutes or until tender and lightly browned. Add garlic and cook an additional minute. Add tomato sauce and sugar and cook about 5 minutes stirring frequently. Add green beans, salt, pepper and vinegar and cook an additional 5 minutes. Serve hot.
