Award Winning BKW Three Bean Chili Friday, February 24, 2012


Matt Beeler of BKW

3 lb ground beef
1 lb mild sausage
1 ½ onions, chopped
½ green pepper, diced
½ red pepper diced
1 TBSP minced garlic
1 jalapeno, diced
1 chili pepper, diced
3 slices bacon, cooked
¼ cup BKW Pepper Blend
1/8 cup BKW Barbecue rub
1/8 cup BKW Original Gourmet
1 TBSP cocoa powder
1 15 oz can each kidney, black and pinto beans
1 can tomato paste
1 can corn
4 TBSP chili powder
3 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
2 TBSP brown sugar


In large skillet cook onions, peppers, garlic, jalapeno, and chili pepper until tender. Add ground beef and sausage and continue until meat is cooked. Transfer to large pot and add remaining ingredients. Cook at medium high heat, stirring frequently until chili begins to bubble. Reduce heat and let simmer for up to 3 hours, stirring occasionally, allowing all of the flavors to soak in. Serve immediately or refrigerate for next day.
