1 lb dried navy beans, cooked until tender, reserving a cup of cooking
4 16 ounce cans navy beans, drained and rinsed
1 pound lean ground beef
8 ounces diced ham or shredded pork
2 cups ketchup
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 large onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Butter a large Dutch oven or casserole dish. In a large bowl combine all ingredients and stir together well. Add mixture to Dutch oven.
3. Cover and cook for about 2 hours, stirring every ½ hour or so.
