Ingredients
Joann Holmes
8 oz sharp cheddar, grated
1 stick butter
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups plain flour
Directions
Mix cheese, butter, salt and pepper in a food processor and blend. Add flour and blend to make a dough. Pack into a cookie press with a star tip and press out onto a cookie sheet into 2 to 3 inch long straws. Bake at 350 deg for 20 minutes or just until lightly browned. Do not OVERBAKE. Remove from cookie sheet to a wire rack to cool completely. If do not happen to have a cookie press, shape the dough into two logs about 1 inch across. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill about one hour until firm. Slice across into thin slices. Place on a cookie sheet, not touching and bake as above.
