Very Berry Dessert Wednesday, January 6, 2010
Ingredients
1 12 oz bag frozen, unsweetened, berry mixture
1 1/4 cup sugar, divided
2 TBSP all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups self rising flour
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup milk
Directions
Mix 3/4 cup sugar with all-purpose flour. Toss with fruit which has been allow to thaw if frozen. Place in a heavy sauce pan and place on medium heat. Stir occasionally as mixture comes to a boil. Turn off heat and set aside. In a medium bowl, cut butter into self rising flour until it resembles fine crumbs. Stir in remaining ½ cup sugar. Stir in milk adding more if necessary to form a soft dough. Pour hot berry mixture into a 9” square or an 11x7” baking dish. Spoon dough by TBSPfuls over fruit. Bake in a 350 deg oven until topping is brown and the berry juices are thickened and bubbly. Serve warm. By the way, a little frozen yogurt wouldn’t be bad with this.
