What is the very bright heavenly body seen in the Eastern sky early in the morning the last couple of weeks?

Folks at the Hummel Planetarium at Eastern Kentucky University tell us the bright light in the sky is actually Venus. Apparently, it could be seen quite well around April 13th in the eastern horizon between 5:00am and 6:00am.
