The latest Palmer Drought Index numbers released May 18 show every region in the state on the positive side. The eastern region, which includes all of southern and eastern Kentucky, stands at 2.44 on the index scale. That means that area has been
unusually wet. The bluegrass region, which includes the Lexington area up to northern Kentucky, is in the near normal category.
