We recently ran a story about foreclosed homes in Scott County. The
Georgetown home we featured in that story has been in foreclosure for a
year now. The home sits vacant because the former owner couldn't make
the payments. Now neighbors have to deal with the property that goes
uncared for months at a time.
To answer your question, Lisa, we spoke to David Jarvis with Fayette
County Code Enforcement. He says it's ultimately the responsibility of
the mortgage company. Jarvis says often times the court system gets
involved and has a say in the outcome of the case. He says code
enforcement cannot take action until the matter is settled in court.
