Does the number of new motercycle licenses relate to the number of deadly accidents over the past 5 years?

27 NEWSFIRST gathered information from Kentucky State Police over the
past three years. When it comes to motorcycle accident deaths, KSP says
95 people died on Kentucky roads in 2007. In 2008, 91 died and at the
half way point of this year, 64 people have died. Those statistics show
the number of deaths have stayed consistent.

People getting new motorcycle licenses really dropped off this year. In
2007, almost 4300 passed the test for a motorcycle license. In 2008 4350
got their license but so far this year, only 1585 have passed. That's
way behind previous years, at the half way point for 2009. State Police
say, with the struggling economy, people get rid of their so-called
toys, like motorcycles and boats, and that might explain the drop this
year.
