Do you have to be a resident of Lexington to get a H1N1 flu shot at the Lexington Fayette County Health Department?

Beginning on November 7, the Lexington Fayette County Health Department will begin vaccinating the public at two locations, Dunbar High School and Bryan Station High School. The health department stresses the goal is to make sure those in Fayette County who are in the highest risk category of contracting H1N1 need to get the vaccine first. That includes pregnant women, people between the ages of 6 months through 24 years old, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age, people ages 25-64 with chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems and health care and emergency services personnel.

It is imperative health care officials say these people get the vaccine first. The other goal is that each county will get their own vaccines and be able to vaccinate the people there. While the health department won't be checking ID's, they do hope people will allow those who need the vaccine to get it first.
