Good Question-Reply All UK Basketball

Thursday night was a big night for UK basketball, both for the men's and women's teams.

Reply All: UK Basketball .

Randy in Berea: Why does the Kentucky women's team go by UK Hoops, when and why did they change?

Randy when Bernadette Locke Mattox took over as head coach in 1995 Lady Cats was dropped and the team was know simply as UK Women's Basketball.

In 2003 when Mickie Demoss took over the name was changed to UK Hoops as a way to set the women's team apart from the men.

Can I still get tickets for the men's and Women's SEC tournament?

The answer is yes and no!

To see the Wildcats play in Nashville no way!

Tickets are completely sold out!

We did some checking on EBay, tickets are going for upwards of three thousand dollars.

As for the UK Hoops team, they will be playing down in Duluth, Georgia and tickets for that tournament are still available.

Has the UK Women's team ever won an SEC championship?

Yes they have!

It happened all the way back in 1982.

The team was led by all time leading scorer Valerie Still, Patty Jo Hedges and Lea Wise.

The following year, the same trio led the team to a number four ranking in the country, the highest in the team's history.
