David in Lexington: What happened to the UK Basketball Museum?

It was a shrine to the most storied program in college basketball history.

The UK Basketball Museum opened in 1999 in the Lexington Center with the expectation 130,000 people would visit in the first year, but in reality, that number fell about 100,000 people short.

After struggling financially the decision was made in 2008 to close the museum.

Why did UK chose blue and white as school colors?

Believe it or not, history has it that in 1891 students chose blue and yellow for school colors.

According to the story, the shade of blue was chosen when a student asked the question, "What color blue?"

At the time, Richard C. Stoll (who lettered in football at UK in 1889-94) pulled off his necktie and held it up, it was royal blue, it was a hit!

A year later, UK students officially dropped the light yellow for white.
