There are 144 days left until all eyes are on the Bluegrass for the World Equestrian Games.
Thousands are expected to attend and all those folks will need a place to stay when they arrive.
Good Question: Just how much money can I make by renting out my home?
If in the right location, your home has the potential of earning you some serious cash, and its not by selling.
"A lot of folks can't afford to sell their home, they are taking advantage of the investment they have and leasing their homes out for the World Equestrian Games." said Scott Floro with Milestone Realty in Lexington.
John Holland is one of those homeowners, he's offering up his nearly 1900 square foot-three bedroom two and half bath Lexington home.
"With the way the economy has been lately a lot of home values have dropped. A lot of people actually are happy to break even, we thought this would be a great way to make a little money on our investment." said John Holland.
Okay so really just how much money can you make?
Floro says anywhere from a $1,000 a night to $6,000 is not out of the question.
But what about the possibility of something happening to your home, or even some of your big ticket items being stolen?
Floro says that's where you have to make sure your covered before strangers move in.
"The hardest part about the whole thing is just making sure they contact their insurance company, make sure the insurance company is allowing them to do a short term lease." said Floro.
Bottom line, the World Equestrian Games could be a huge profit, if you're willing to take the risk.
"If you do a 14 day listing at $1000 a night, you're going to make about $14,000." said Floro.
