This time of year we are focused on buying gifts and giving, but for some that isn't so easy.
Good Question: Stephanie, Mt. Sterling: My children have way too many toys, is there somewhere that I can donate them for children who have none?
At the Gods Net warehouse in Lexington some of Santa's elves are hard at work.
Mounds of gently, pre-loved toys have to be organized before being sent to the annual Christmas Store.
"Its where the community is able to help out those in need for the holiday. So the community donates their gently used toys and we have volunteers who come and work as inventory helpers and personal shoppers," said Carrie Berend a volunteer with the Faith and Community Christmas Store.
Last year the Faith and Community Christmas Store at Vineyard Community Church on Winchester Road helped bring Christmas to 15,000 children in Lexington, and this year the need is even greater.
"Toys of any kind we can use, we have toys from infants through teenagers ages 18," said Berend.
The Christmas Store, in its 15th year doesn't ask for new toys, instead they ask that you take what your child doesn't play with and donate.
" Some of the hardest toys for us to find are for those pre-teens and teens. We'll take toys of all ages, but those teenagers are hard to shop for sometimes," said Berend.
All of the toys donated will be moved to the Christmas Store in the coming days.
At the store, parents who may be struggling to provide Christmas can shop with dignity.
Parents like Willie Burnett are grateful.
" I think its great, it's a wonderful thing, it helps families who like myself are having problems financial wise," said Burnett.
The Christmas Store will be open December 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
Its located in Vineyard Community Church at 817 Winchester Road, Lexington.
For those involved its what the season is all about.
"To see the volunteers who are there for the first time connect with someone who is in need and to see how we are just the same and we all have a need at some point in our lives," said Berend.
