FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - State officials say the rate of vendors who sell tobacco to minors remains low in Kentucky.

A survey by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services says about 94 percent of retailers complied with a law barring tobacco sales to anyone younger than 18.

The rate of vendors not in compliance, about 6.3 percent, has remained steady from 2005 to last year. The rate had been dropping since 1999, when nearly 20 percent of vendors where not in compliance with the law.

The state's Office of Beverage Control and other state agencies conducted the study over the summer.
