The Kentucky Department of Health now says the flu is "widespread" throughout the Commonwealth.

The new classification means laboratory-confirmed cases have been found in at least half the regions of the state. This is the highest level the influenza virus can be defined.

The Department of Public Health wants people to know that it is not too late to get a flu shot. The vaccine is still available. Infants and the elderly are the most at risk for serious illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths from the flu.

Symptoms of the flu include fever, headache, cough, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing and body aches. If you think you may have the flu, it is best to get visit your doctor as soon as possible.

Several organizations will be holding flu clincs for those who would like to get vaccinated.

Times and locations are as follows:

Sat. Feb 9, 2008 Bryan Station High School. There is no cost for students or their families.

Wed. Feb 13, 2008 North Lexington Family YMCA, 381 West Louden Ave.

Shots cost $1 for children 18 and under and $5 for adults.

The low cost shots are also offered daily by appointment at the department's two Public Health Clinics at 805 Newtown Circle and 2433 Regency Road.

Patients can also recieve a flu shot during clinic waslk-in times:
9:30-11 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.

Medicaid, Medicare B, cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

My bluegrass had mold last year but it feels much better now.
