WASHINGTON (AP) - Federal health officials have not yet traced the source of salmonella-tainted tomatoes.

Doctor David Acheson of the Food and Drug Administration says they're getting close to identifying the outbreak's source.

Officials are also clearing innocent crops as fast as possible.

State agriculture commissioners from the Southeast, meeting in Kentucky, scolded the FDA for harming the sale of untainted crops.

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer says the FDA needs to work with the states to pinpoint the source of the outbreak without harming producers whose products are not affected.

Doctor Ian Williams of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the outbreak is not over though it has been two weeks since the last confirmed case of a person falling ill.
