Lexington man admits killing ex-boyfriend, says it was self-defense


Updated: 6:21 PM - Matthew Donaghy, who appeared before Fayette Circuit Judge Pamela Goodwine for a probable cause hearing, said during testimony that he got into an argument with his boyfriend Todd Schumacher because Donaghy wanted to leave him. Donaghy also said he recently discovered he had HIV and he contracted it from someone with whom Schumacher had slept with.

Religious leaders ask Beshear to call special session for same-sex marriage licenses

Updated: 6:22 PM - A deacon and five ministers from four counties gave the governor's office a petition they said had 1,700 names on it asking the governor to call a special session of the state legislature so lawmakers could pass a law exempting Davis and others from issuing marriage licenses. The governor's chief of staff told the pastors Beshear would not call a special session because it would cost too much money for an issue that only affects a few county officials.

Couple killed in Bath County tree trimming accident
