First day of school in Salyersville, hit hard by March tornado

Tuesday is the start of a brand new school year for a school system that has worked to overcome so much.

Back in March, a tornado ripped apart the Salyersville grade school, forcing teachers and students back to a building they outgrew more than ten years ago.

WKYT was there in July, as volunteers helped Magoffin County Schools get the old building ready for when classes start. That building may have to be used for three years while repairs are made.
