Home overrun with dogs in Leslie County

LESLIE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- The owners of an eastern Dentucky home say they're overrun with dogs and he's asking the community for help.

Tommy Adams and his wife say they now have around 70 dogs at their home in the Big Fork community of Leslie County.

The Leslie County sheriff's office received a complaint about the dogs and went to the home tonight.

Deputies say most of the dogs look healthy but they may have to take action soon if new homes aren't found for them.

Adams says the situation quickly got out of control.

"I started picking up strays and went from about five pups and a mother to about 70 I believe that's what I've got," said Adams.

Adams says he's reached out to shelters but only rescue group has agreed to help so far. The couple has been spending around six hundred dollars a month on dog food alone.

Police emphasize the couple is not facing any charges.
