LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A man has died in Louisville after his car and a train collided and the car caught fire.
Louisville police spokesman Dwight Mitchell told The Courier-Journal that the railroad crossing in western Louisville had flashing red lights but no crossing arms.
The man's identity was not immediately released.
Mitchell said the car hit the side of the train as the train was moving through the crossing just before 1 p.m. EST. A passer-by wasn't able to extricate the man from the burning car.
Mitchell said operators of the Norfolk Southern train told police they didn't realize a car had hit the train and didn't stop immediately.
