Lexington Signs Warn Of Sewage Contamination

Posted: Wed 9:05 AM, Sep 26, 2007

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Sewage contamination has prompted the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department to post signs, warning people not to enter the Town Branch of Elkhorn Creek at Lexington.

Kevin Hall of the state Division of Water says the signs were placed along a stretch of the Town Branch where a mysterious sewage leak was reported on September eleventh. The city has dumped 2,000 gallons of dye into the sewage system, snaked TV cameras through the sewer pipes and blown smoke into the pipes to try to find the source of the leak.

Nothing has worked.
