Officer acquitted in Ky. girl's death back on force

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A Rutherford County Sheriff's
Department detective sergeant acquitted this year in a traffic
death has been rehired by the department.
Ron Killings was rehired by Sheriff Truman Jones, who was
defeated for re-election last week by Robert Arnold. According to
The Daily News Journal, Arnold has said he does not want Killings
back in the department.
Killings was acquitted of reckless homicide by a jury in the
traffic death of 11-year-old old Lakeisha White of Hopkinsville,
Ky., in 2008. The girl was struck by a patrol car driven by
Killings as she crossed a Murfreesboro street.
Later, a judge threw out charges of evidence tampering and
filing a false police report.
