Officer injured during arrest

A traffic stop turned dangerous early Thursday for one police officer.

Lexington Police pulled over a vehicle on Winchester Road, near the Jif Plant.

When an officer was arresting the passenger, Devonte Webb, 20, for carrying a gun without a permit, police say Webb hit the officer on his forehead with the handcuffs.

Webb then took off with one of the handcuffs still on, according to officers.

Police chased him until he went inside a storage unit business. Officers say they found Webb's gun on Winchester Road.

Search dogs were called in and finally found Webb.

Paramedics treated Webb for injuries police say he received when he jumped over fences trying to get away.

The officer was treated on the scene by paramedics.

Webb is charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second-degree assault and fleeing and evading.

The driver of the car Webb was in wasn't charged.
