Plane crashes feet away from family's home

A couple of trees may be what saved several lives and kept a plane from hitting a home.

The plane, carrying a father and son, landed just feet away from where 2 children were watching TV in their family's home Saturday night. The pilot had just taken off from the West Liberty Airport in Morgan County, headed for Morehead, when the plane went down.

Jennifer Ison called 911 as her husband tried to figure out if there were going to be survivors emerging from the Cesna 150 that was pinned in between trees very near the family's home. Ison says her children were in the room closest to the accident.

FAA officials were on site much of the day investigating. They say the plane may have been too heavy because it had just fueled up, causing it to crash.
