High School Basketball Star Arrested On Drug Charges

27 NEWSFIRST has learned that Scott County basketball star Bud Mackey has been arrested on drug charges.

Georgetown Police tell us they they took Mackey into custody for drug possession Friday afternoon at the high school.

Mackey is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, which we're told was crack cocaine, and trafficking within one thousand yards of a school. Both charges are felonies. Mackey could face prison if convicted.

Mackey is a favorite for Mr. Basketball honors this season and has verbally committed to play at Indiana.

He led Scott County to the 2007 state championship where he was named Sweet 16 MVP.

Mackey is being held on a $10,000 cash bond and will appear in court on Tuesday.
