PIKEVILLE, KY -- A Pike County male passenger was killed and the female driver was seriously injured in an ATV crash on Little Robinson Creek Road near Pikeville yesterday afternoon. Police say alcohol may have been a factor and the driver may be facing charges.
According to the Kentucky State Police the victim was 44-year old Billy R. Davis of Poor Bottom Road in the community of Lookout. Forty-year-old Lisa Stewart, of Rose Hollow in Lookout, was taken to Pikeville Medical Center and later transported to the U. K. Medical Center. A medical center spokesperson said Stewart was listed in serious condition.
Police say Stewart apparently drove off the roadway and into a creek. Davis was pronounced dead by an emergency room physician at the Pikeville Medical Center about an hour after the accident. Neither Stewart nor Davis was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Police say charges may be filed against Stewart pending the outcome of blood tests. KSP Trooper Derek Sturgill is the investigating officer.
